For You:
Check out the awesome bags by Rumah Kampung! Each bag is hand crafted from an upcycled old suit. Beautiful and functional, they make an awfully hip statement about how great it is to be green. My Abby flatpack can store enough stuff to get us around town without a worry... and part of that “us” is a two year old girl. When it’s just me, I can easily keep all my necessities near by, and if I need it, there’s even room for a MacBook. For business, casual, or even mom-duty, these bags truly can do it all, and do it with style. Perfect for moms, dads, and well... everyone!
My second “for you” pick is another etsy.com find, and one that’s sure to please. Orglamix cosmetics are made in-home by a mom who grew tired of all the ick that can be found in commercial make-up brands. All natural and vegan friendly, you can feel good (and look great) wearing these lovely sparkly concoctions. “Our promise to you is no nasties, no parabens, no synthetic dyes and definitely no nano-particles and of course – fabulous healthy products!” A big plus? As a mom, you can feel good letting your not-quite-grown-up ones try out their artistry with these make-up bag staples. I highly recommend trying a starter kit, complete with the most amazing brushes you’ll ever use - and they’re vegan friendly too! my thanks to mommadethat.com
For Your Home:
Discover the last dish soap you’ll ever buy! Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Liquid Dish Soap is phosphate, chlorine, and ammonia free. It comes in fragrances that make washing dishes feel like a trip to the spa (well, almost), my favourites were basil and lavender. One tiny drop of pure deliciousness contained in this environmentally friendly dish soap easily tackled a sink full of dirty greasy dishes. And you can feel great knowing your grey-water is completely safe - so please use it to water your houseplants.
Spring is the season of new life... it’s time to clean out the dust, get rid of the clutter, and brighten up your space with a fresh coat of paint. Now, before you start cringing over the idea of dizzying paint fumes, get this! Finally a paint meant to give you beautiful walls, AND peace of mind. Mythic paint is lead, mercury, formaldehyde, and carcinogen free. Quick drying and no off-gassing. What could be better? Seriously, you’ll want to check this brand out!
For Your Pets:
Dr. Shawn’s line of pet care products include the only shampoos on the market that are USDA certified organic and formulated by a holistic vet. You will love the new Refreshing Mint Shampoo, and no need to worry about conditioner. This formulation leaves out the harsh chemicals that often strip the oils from your pets coat... so with just one product your pet will feel like they’ve just come out of a high end grooming shop.
Planet Dog has done it again! Not only do they make regular donations to Service Dog organizations through the Planet Dog Foundation. They’ve also created a line of dog toys with the planet in mind. Their Orbee-Tough Raspberry, Bone, Lil’Bulb, and Mint are all non-toxic AND recyclable. So you can feel good about your pup going to town on these chewable, throwable bounce-and-chase-um, toys.
Online:
Skin Deep, the cosmetics database is a must-bookmark website. From baby lotion to zit cream... if it goes on your skin it has the potential to impact you on a far deeper level. You’ll be glad you can find it here! Once you’ve been through the database you’ll never shop the same way again! Keep the website handy by bookmarking it on your smartphone, so you can reference it whenever needed.
For the tweeple among us, I can’t recommend EcoSteward (or Flic) more highly. Keep an eye on his tweets for all the top green news and information. If it’s happening, chances are he’s tweeted it.
